“In life and in death we belong to God.”

A Brief Statement of Faith, Book of Confessions (PCUSA)

Funeral and memorial services provide an important time and place for loved ones, enabling them to express the love they feel and give thanks to God for the gift of life of the deceased, to grieve and celebrate in community, and encounter the love and power of God through worship.

Our Board of Deacons directly serves the congregation by offering comfort, support, and service during this time. Deacons coordinate logistics for funerals and memorial services held at the church, with the Church Administrative Assistant, Funeral directors, family, church staff, police, and other churches for parking space. Deacons also coordinate memorial receptions, and along with volunteer congregation members, provide punch and cookies for family and friends in Stevenson Hall.

One of the pastors of the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church staff will officiate at any funeral or memorial service. The Planning Form is a template used as a guide to work with families to plan a worship service and provide care that celebrates the life of a loved one, and the Service of Witness to the Resurrection form explains the in-depth procedures and practices at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church:

Columbarium

Williamsburg Presbyterian Church has established a beautiful columbarium where its members and their loved ones may have their lives memorialized, and their cremated remains housed and safeguarded in a dedicated space in the church.

If this is something you or your loved ones may be interested in, please contact Lynne Bundick at 757-229-4235 for an application or more information.

Memorial Gifts

Memorial gifts may be made to the Endowment Fund or other WPC designated fund in honor or in memory of a loved one. Family members are notified of your gifts. Any funds help to secure our church’s mission.

If this is something you or your loved ones may be interested in, please contact Lynne Bundick at 757-229-4235 for more information on memorial giving options.
