Carol Choir (K-Grade 2): Offers a first encounter with organized music making. The emphasis here is on simple exercises that introduce young minds to the language of music that they can learn and enjoy.
Junior Choir (Grades 3-5): Uses voice and hand bells to introduce the fundamentals of music technique, history, and liturgy.
Both Choirs meet at 4:30 on Thursday afternoons.
Children are invited to take a “worship bag” into the sanctuary with them for worship services. These white bags hang outside the sanctuary. Included in each bag are activities, stories, and other tools to help connect children with parts of worship which may be beyond their attention span. They are not a replacement for worship, but rather a supplement and we hope children participate as fully as they are able in the service.
During our 11am worship services we include a moment each week before the sermon where children get to wonder, learn, and lead the congregation in discovering more about our faith. Most weeks this is led by our Director of Educational Ministries, “A” Williams. Children are invited to come join the leader on the steps at the front of the sanctuary each week for this special time.
Following Sharing Faith With Children, younger children (ages 3 through 2nd grade) are invited to join leaders in the church library where they will engage in prayer, singing, hearing a bible story and wondering together about its meaning. Wee Worship creates developmentally appropriate ways to better understand the hows and whys of worship. Following Wee Worship, children return to their families during the hymn following the sermon. This program seeks to aid children and their parents in the transition from Nursery care to communal worship.
