Serving Williamsburg through local mission efforts plays a significant role in the witness of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. From serving and participating on a ministry team at the church, to local mission programs, there are an array of ways for you to become involved!
The Campus Ministry Team provides an opportunity to get involved with our neighbors across the street at the College of William and Mary. You can be a Second Family to a student by journeying with them throughout their college years, or provide a meal at their weekly Wednesday night gathering! For more information, contact Pastor Rachel Hebert.
The Earthcare Ministry Team is rooted in the belief that we have been entrusted to participate in the care and stewardship of God's creation. The Earthcare Team is one who advocates for initiatives within WPC and the wider community as a means of caring for this beautiful planet we call home. In fact, WPC is an Earthcare Congregation! For more information, contact Dorothy Geyer.
Grounded in the calling of Christ to "feed my sheep," the Hunger and Homeless Ministry Team works with a variety of partners. From the Community of Faith Mission to host the hypothermia shelter for one week during the winter months, regularly donate food to FISH, pack meals for Rise Against Hunger, and provide meals to both the Grove Christian Outreach Center and Family Inn Ministry, there are many ways to help feed the sheep here in Williamsburg and beyond! For more information, contact Jim Kirkpatrick.
The Kirk Knitters and Crafters have a mission to experience fellowship as they share a love of knitting, crocheting, and needle point. The group meets twice a month from September to June, and welcomes all people from beginners to experts! They knit and crochet shawls for mission teams to take abroad, for local charities including caps for service men and women, and lap afghans for patients receiving dialysis. For more information, contact Marilyn Taylor.
Responding to Christ͛'s calling to minister to those in prison, WPC partners with Kairos Prison Ministries where discipleship and relationships are built with those who are incarcerated. For more information, contact Joe Avellar.
The Refugee Resettlement Ministry Team strives to provide a safe space and place for those who have been forced or obliged to flee or leave their homes as the result of armed conflict, situations of generalized violence, violations of human rights or natural or human-made disasters. If you long to care for the stranger and alien in our midst, then the Refugee Resettlement team is for you! For more information, contact Deidre Lenderking.
